Getting the dog to stay on the lawn
Dec 14th, 2007 by admin
It only snowed about two inches yesterday. Then came the ice. Around 10pm when the storm calmed, I went outside to shovel. As I mentioned in a previous post, we live on a dead-end block, with very little traffic. As I walked outside, I looked the dog and thought… hmm… I wonder if she’ll listen to me and stay on the lawn. On our block, there are 5 other lab’s and all are very well behaved. They stay on their lawns with no help of an electric fence or shock collar. So why can’t my dog do that?
I am very proud to say that Sadie was a joy. She ran around me in circles, she enjoyed having snow thrown at her from the shovel and especially enjoyed trying to catch the snowballs. Only once or twice did I need to yell “Get out of the road”, but she listened.
The only negative I’ve found is now every time I go outside, she expects to go out too. This morning before work she darted out the door when I went out to start my car. Baby steps I guess
